Guest Bloggers Wanted

For the first time, I'm opening this blog up to guest posters. Why now? Two reasons, ie:

1. It wasn't popular enough before: To be honest, I never thought this blog was popular enough to grant any real value to guest posters. I've been approached on more than a few occasions by freelance writers who wanted to contribute, but if you're going to be "writing for free" so to speak, then you should get something in exchange.

And, while the traffic here is not off the charts, it is decent. FYI, the blog and website receive about 5,000 visitors a day. Perhaps more important than this is that this blog and its accompanying website are pretty popular in freelance writing circles. So, if you speak to this niche, it's a good place to appear.

2. I won't be writing much here again until late January/early February: If you're a regular reader, you know that I've been talking about updating the site to its new Wordpress design.

I had hoped to have this done by January 1st. But, that's just not going to happen. December has turned out to be a much busier month than I ever dreamed, so I haven't had the time to allot to it. So, I'll be working on it over the next 6-10 weeks. Hence, my posting will be sporadic.

I'd love to have some great posts from others. Besides, it'd be nice to hear other voices, other points of view, etc. Following are some guidelines.

Guest Posting Guidelines for This Blog

a) Must be pertinent to the freelance writing niche: This is broad (eg, blogging, white papers, SEO writing, case studies, article marketing, ebooks, etc.) so you shouldn't have a problem writing a relevant post.

b) Well written: Please do the minimum like running a spell check and using good grammar.

c) No overt promotion: I'm more than happy to provide a really thick byline with a link to your site/blog, so don't feel like you have to overpromote/overlink in your post.

d) Original content: Your post can't have been published anyplace else. I only publish original material here. I don't even submit my own posts to other places, ie, article directories like I used to.

That's it; pretty standard stuff.

FYI, if I decide to use your submission, I'll post it first and then send you the link to it. I'll try to respond to all who submit, but that depends on how many I receive. If you haven't heard anything after a couple of weeks, feel free to send me a touchbase email. But I'm extremely busy, so please be patient.

FYI, if your post is longer than 500 or 600 words, I may post an excerpt here, with a link to the full post on InkwellEditorial.com.

How to Submit Your Guest Post: Send to info*at*InkwellEditorial.com. Put "Guest Blog Post" in the subject line.

Have a great weekend everybody. I'm so swamped I can't even quite appreciate that it's Friday.

Is there a blog for frustrated freelancers?

Good question. Instead of a blog for frustrated freelancers, try some of the more established sites that have forums, ie, writersweekly.com. I'm sure you'll find some good rants in forums on popular sites like this one.

Good luck, and hope the frustration doesn't last long. :-)
